I Discipline MY Kids, YOU Don’t

In the court proceedings, and lawyer’s briefs, the Crivitz School is making the claim that they can discipline kids as they see fit. They claim to have complete discretion in how they discipline. They claim that they can stand in for parents. Bullshit!!! No one has ever given the Crivitz School District carte blanche with regard to our kids. And, no one ever will. Parents are responsible for their kids, not the school. The school is the first entity that blames parents for bad kids, so parents are already on the hook for their kids’ behavior.

A major flaw with this plan is that the Crivitz School does not discipline kids the same. They have proven to do just the opposite. They gave my daughter an athletic code violation for what they sent me a letter was a cell phone violation. They haven’t done this before or after. When will you get it Crivitz School District?? You do not follow your own rules or handbook. You arbitrarily mete out punishment as you see fit. When will you understand they are our kids, not yours? After you punished those girls, how did you help them? What counseling did you give? Nothing, and you threatened them with expulsion if they touched a hair of Sophie Dama’s head! They had never touched her. WHEN WILL YOU GET IT? Readers, if you vote for incumbents in April, you are voting for the school to continue with these policies, and discipline as they like. You are voting for them to change the rules as they wish. Please think twice this time around , and for God’s sake get it right this time! Stay tuned.

Crivitz Dollars and Sense?

For the taxpayers of Crivitz I want to throw out a few numbers for your edification. I just read the 228 page insurance policy that the school has. Crivitz pays $67,683 for insurance for the 2015-16 school year. (Not including health insurance)The very same insurance company that is fighting the 3 girls tooth and nail in court. Per http://host.madison.com, in the 2013-14 school year Patrick Mans made a salary of $113,387 and received fringe benefits of $36,933! The same Patrick Mans who I feel unjustly penalized those same students. The same Patrick Mans who spends his time sitting in court and depositions instead of attending to other school matters. The same Patrick Mans that lied at a school board meeting regarding how to get on the board agenda. (4 people have attested that he lied) The same Patrick Mans that “advises” the board, and goes into closed session to keep the public from seeing what’s going on with the lawsuit. It may be legal, but is it right? I don’t think so.

So while you may not care that 3 former female students were grilled by police, and the administration for hours, or care that they were unfairly punished, maybe you’ll care if your taxes go up. Maybe you’ll care when the school gets sued again. But, it’s my sincere hope that you’ll care in April when it comes time to vote for school board. Stay tuned.

Kenny Likes My Blog

After court today in Oconto, Ken Dama came out with a big smile on his face, and told me he likes my blog posts, and that I’m a real dandy. Well, Ken, that’s fine, but I guess a few like it, since the blog has over 1,200 views! People get to hear what’s really going on, not what you keep feeding them. I will continue to enlighten and inform, until, ultimately you and your family fail. Why do you want to keep poking the bear? Why would you want to hurt your business?

I told Kenny that I’m glad to know that he’s trolling my blog, and I’ll say the same to you other folks, who do it to report back to them. You’ll believe whatever you want anyway. The truth will come out. Also I believe I’ve shown great restraint to this point, but I would stay out of my face from this point on. Your bullying tactics will not be tolerated! Stay tuned.

A Safe, Positive, and Nurturing Educational Environment???

The  Crivitz School handbook sets out a commitment to “provide a safe, positive, productive, and educational environment for all its students.” Really, you’ve got to get serious!. By making assumptions, conducting a poor investigation, and deviating from consequences set forth in the Handbook  for cellphone violations, the School District created a toxic environment for the girls. This environment included one where none of the teachers could talk to the girls about what was going on, the counselor would not speak about it, the witnesses were unable to give statements as to what THEY actually saw , Facebook posts were created about them, and the kids were no longer comfortable in class. The Crivitz school has a responsibility to protect ALL students. They failed miserably!

The 3 girls get their day in court on Tuesday of next week in Oconto. One of the things that will be discussed is the above. I pray that no other children get this type of treatment from their school system. So that everyone is aware, the district, and the board’s family forced this action. It is not just for 3 girls it is for all students who deserve: a safe, positive, productive, and educational environment! Stay tuned.

We Must be North Of Highway 64

It appears that once a person gets to a line north of Highway 64 in Wisconsin, state laws and rules can be manipulated by local government. For instance, the State Ethics Board ruled that a school board member would be violating the doctrine of incompatibility by acting as a volunteer coach.  Mr. Dama served as volunteer coach for my daughter’s team for 2 years unethically, according to the Ethics Board rules. Additionally, it is my understanding that he was not wanted by other coaches or the players. But, he’s north of 64, so I guess it must be okay. WOW!

A new law was adopted in November of 2015, gave limited permission to school board members to act as volunteer coaches provided they have on file, a background check from the FBI or Wisconsin DOJ. When I asked for this check from Crivitz School, surprisingly there was none. Mr. Dama was again coaching against the law. When I informed the school, they told me that is just the way they do it. Again, north of 64! I then informed the board, and they told me it is being handled, with an exclamation point for emphasis. This was done only after the Marinette County District Attorney told them to do so.I realize that we’re north of 64, but when will someone step up and do the right thing? Those laws are there to protect our children, but our school and its board continue to do whatever they want! When will it stop folks? Stay tuned.

Imagine that you are a parent of a high school student-athlete. Imagine that you receive a call from the school accusing your daughter of serious violations. Imagine what goes through your mind. Well, I don’t need to do that, because it happened to me. Now imagine, that later on, you learn that your daughter was taken out of class in the middle of a presentation, and put in a room, not knowing why. Imagine the fear that is going through her mind. Imagine wondering where your parents are. Imagine not even being able to use the restroom without supervision.

Now imagine this scenario-being interrogated by the school administrator, principal, athletic director, and being told you’re guilty regardless what you say. Then imagine a police officer comes in to interrogate you. Imagine this officer naming women’s prisons that you may be going to with other rapists and thieves. Now try to imagine that this same officer goes on to say “What I had seen looked like horseplay, okay, young kids screwing around, okay?” Imagine the fear that a juvenile female was feeling as a fully armed police officer “aggressively” interrogates her. Imagine our Crivitz administrators participating in this, and allowing this, while not calling parents! Now you get a small taste of how they have operated, and continue to do so, because as your school board president said, they want to go back to doing things the way they’ve always done. I don’t think this is what John Lennon meant when he sang ” Imagine all the people, living life in peace.”!

Evidently Not Free to Drug Test Our Kids

Well, after looking over invoice from the school’s attorney Kalny, something kept bugging me that I was overlooking. The school paid their lawyer $3,471.50 to research random drug testing policy, and discuss with Pat Mans. When they “informed” us that it would be essentially free to “random” drug test our kids, that may not have been true after all.

I put the quotation marks around “random”, because of all of the people who could be randomly tested, my daughter was the very first one, male or female. Random-I doubt it! It appears that school, and its administrator will ram anything down our throats, and it also looks like most will accept. When will the good people of Crivitz take a stand against these folks. They certainly did not in the last election. You’ve got one coming in April people, and you can finally make your statement. I know I will. Stay tuned.

*UPDATE*

Since this post was published, the administrator of the Crivitz School District has decided to enforce a policy of not allowing bottled water in the classroom. A student, may however, have bottled water in the hallway. I wonder if this makes sense. A classroom is a controlled environment, and the hallway really is not. Additionally, we are all aware of how important hydration is. This stance has once again, alienated and aggravated both our student body, as well as, our parents. I wonder if this will have any impact on Tuesday’s elections. Stay tuned.

Threats to teenage girls

Some are wondering what the lawsuit is all about. In one blog post there is no way to scratch the surface. As a father who loves his kids,  the following actual posts are disturbing. If you read any of these, and realize it was you, please be assured that to hurt my kids you will need to go through me. Ask around first though, to see if that is wise. My guess is that you’ll find out that it is not. Here are a few. When you see them, ask yourself how you would react if people said these things about your children. See if you remember this one P.Z. “It should have been girls being punched! I hope who ever was the victim got out and beat the crap out of who ever did it! I know I would have!” Very pleasant for 16 and 17 year old girls, don’t you think? Here’s another enlightened individual: “If this was done to one of my kids They [sic] would be charges pressed against me for beating the hell out of the girls that took the pics.” This one was from D.D.  Do you remember that brilliant statement? What pics? Have you ever seen a single pic? Don’t answer, we all know the answers to those questions. Ask yourself, when a family, and a school district do this to kids, how can a parent or concerned citizen sit idly by and allow this to happen? Would you? I will not! Stay tuned.

How Much Did School Pay For Recall?

Since the incumbent and his family were telling all signers how much the recall would cost taxpayers, I thought I’d set the record straight. I made an open records request for invoice for School District Attorney James Kalny, of Davis and Kuelthau. It turns out that it cost you$10,400.80 just for the attorney! If that doesn’t bother you, then I guess it’s no big deal. $10,000+ is a lot of money in my world. When you factor all the signs and advertising put out by the incumbent to get way less signatures that recall petition signatures, it seems like an awful lot of money to keep a job that pays a couple hundred bucks a month. I wonder why someone would go through that, given the return. Stay tuned.
